Principle of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA)

The Coffee Science journal reaffirms its comitment to the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) in all its editorial practices, with the aim of expanding the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge, contributing to the improvement of the human condition.

In this context, the journal actively works to address systemic inequalities and biases, promoting fair opportunities for authors and reviewers, and encouraging the establishment of an inclusive and accessible environment for all those involved in the publication process. In this way, Coffee Science seeks to strengthen and disseminate these principles within the scientific community of agricultural sciences.

Section editors are therefore guided and encouraged to:

1- Ensure fair, transparent evaluation processes based exclusively on scientific merit, minimizing the influence of conscious and unconscious biases;

2- Promote the diversity of authors, reviewers, and editorial board members, considering different geographic, institutional, gender, and academic backgrounds;

3- Adopt respectful, inclusive, and non-discriminatory language in all communications related to the editorial process;

4- Ensure, whenever possible, the accessibility of published content, including good practices of clear and inclusive scientific writing;

5- Act proactively in identifying and addressing discriminatory or exclusionary practices in the evaluation and publication process;

6- To encourage the participation of researchers at different career stages, including young scientists and historically underrepresented groups;

7- To ensure confidentiality, integrity, and ethics at all stages of the editorial process.
